The Ascent Youth Group Superbowl Party - February 5 --Kick-off is at 4:30 so come a few minutes early prepared to eat pizza, laugh at the commercials and cheer on your favorite team. Bring a snack or drinks to share. Pizza provided!

The Marriage Course - begins February 7 --Join us for this seven session course set in a fantastic atmosphere. You will be served a candle lit meal at a romantic table for two while listening to practical talks that are informative and fun. There is never any group work and you will never be asked to share anything about your relationship with anyone other than your partner. Register at 303-279-2188.

OPUS Luncheon (That's Older People Up to Something!) - February 10 --Great food and great fun are on the menu! Join the OPUS group for lunch at 1:30 pm at the Heaven Dragon Chinese Restaurant (16255 W. 64th Avenue, Arvada). RSVP Sue or Millie by February 8 so call the office number today.

The Ascent Youth Group Parent/Volunteer/Student Potluck - February 12 --6:30-8:00 pm. Whether you're a student, parent, Sunday school volunteer, Ascent volunteer or someone who is interested in volunteering with the youth, Daniel Coffey wants to meet YOU! We'll gather to mix, mingle and generally get to know each other. Please bring a drink, snack or dessert to share.

Scrapbooking - February 17 --Photo memories are treasured by everyone, come create some treasures! Call the office for more information.

The Ascent Youth Group Skating at Evergreen Lake - February 19 --instead of our regular Ascent gathering time, we'll eat a quick lunch at the church before heading up to Evergreen for the afternoon! Cost is $11 w/skate rental and $5 if you bring your skates. We'll be back to the church by 3:30.

Music and Munchies - February 19 --Are you getting ready for a musical audition? Have a piece you'd like to try out in a friendly environment? Space is limited. Contact Gwen for more information at 303-279-2188.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper - February 21 --Join us for a wonderful celebration before Lent begins on Wednesday in the Great Hall from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. We gratefully accept free will offerings to cover our costs. Sponsored by the Thursday Morning Men's Prayer Group.

Yarn Spinners - February 23 --Do you enjoy needlework, knitting, crochet or other "yarn" activity? Join us for an evening of great company.

Calvary Women's Literary Society - February 24 --Join us for a discussion of The End of the Affair by Graham Greene at the Gibbs home. Potluck dinner starts at 6:00 with the discussion at 7:00. Come for dinner and/or the discussion. Our March book is Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua on March 30th.

40 Days & 40 Nights Lenten Concert - February 26 --5:00 pm in the Historic Church featuring organist Gwen Blumenschein. Join us for some inspiring Lenten music.

EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

Sunday School for all ages

SUNDAY MORNING ADULT CLASS:

Get ready for two new adult education classes starting January 8th. John, Tim and Cathy will team up to talk about "Who We Are: Calvary's Anglican Heritage." Especially designed for new comers and anyone interested in why we do what we do around here, this class will explore both our Evangelical and Anglo-Catholic traditions, as well as take a good look at our worship services.

Our other class will explore "Issues Facing Christians Today". From business relationships and biotechnology to global poverty and human rights, we'll talk about how Christian thinking is distinctive from secular thinking and how our Christian witness can influence the world around us. Come prepared for some fascinating conversations!

SUNDAY MORNING CHILDREN AND YOUTH CLASSES:

Join us Sundays beginning this Sunday, January 8th,
 from 10:10 to 11:00 am for some great classes!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE

Looking to grow in your faith as a disciple of Jesus in lots of areas of your life? Look no further than Wednesday Night Live. We have something for everyone!

Through the school year Dinner starts at 6:00, and the program starts at 6:45. The cost of dinner $5 per person, $10 per family, Mines students eat free.

Nursery care is available at Calvary for infants through three years of age. Four year olds through the sixth grade are welcome to go to Awana at First Baptist Church on Washington St. It starts at 6:30, which gives you time to get back to Calvary by our 6:45 start time!

Wednesday Night Live is taking a break for the holidays but will resume January 11 with:

*The Origins of the Bible --Lisa Batzle will teach a class exploring the origins of the Bible, such as how did it come to be in it's present form, what does it mean that it is the inspired Word of God, and is it infallible?

*The Basics of Christian Faith -- Are you curious about the basics of the Christian faith, what are spiritual gifts (and do you have any?), and where the Episcopal Church fits into the Kingdom of God? Cathy Hitch and John Wengrovius will tackle those and other questions in their class offering.

*Men's Group & Women's Groups -- The men's and women's groups will be joining the Origins of the Bible class this time.

FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

Calvary College Ministry lunchtime Bible Study
Every Wednesday at noon during the school year our College Ministry meets for lunch, prayer and a short Bible study. All college students, including Mines and Red Rocks students, undergrads and grad students are invited to come. Talk to Cathy Hitch if you have any questions – cathy.hitch@calvarygolden.net

MIDWEEK CLASSES

Tuesday - Women's Bible Study - We’ll enjoy the fellowship and prayers of this amazing group of women along side a powerful Bible study. We meet Tuesday mornings, 9:30 to 11:30 in the Ministry Center classroom and new women are always welcome to join us. Talk to Cathy Hitch if you have any questions – cathy.hitch@calvarygolden.net .

Hebrew Class - Ever wanted to learn Hebrew?
Calvary has a Hebrew Reading Group for anyone interested in better understanding the Old Testament. We meet Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:30 at the Hitch's home. We're starting at Chapter 1 in the text book again, as an extensive review of the basics - No experience necessary! Call 303-279-2188 for more information.

Wednesday - Greek Reading Group - If you have been thinking about joining the Greek Reading Group, the fall is a great time to begin. No previous Greek experience is required. We meet Wednesdays at noon, usually in the Conference Room. Please call our office for information. We’d love for you to join us!
 

Wednesday - Calvary College Ministry Bible Study -- Every week during the school year a group of students and two Calvary leaders meet in the Ministry Center for lunch, prayer, fellowship and a Bible study. All college students are welcome! Contact Cathy Hitch at our office for more information.

FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Calvary Women's Literary Society -- All Calvary women (and their friends) are invited to our once-a-month Literary Society meetings. Call the office for the current book and meeting locations.

HOPE -- Helping Other Parents thru Encouragement invites parents to a monthly lively discussion on the challenges of parenting teens. Meetings begin at 6:00 pm with an optional potluck dinner, followed by a group discussion and then an optional time for socializing at a local establishment. Call the church for more information.

Scrapbooking & Crafters -- A group of women who enjoy scrapbooking and other crafting meet at Calvary to work on our individual projects; paper and digital scrapbooking, quilting, card making, stitching, etc. Crafters of all types and ages are welcome.  Snacks and scrapbooking supplies and assistance are always available. The group meets once a month in the Ministry Center meeting room. Meeting dates are listed on the Calendar page. Call Diana Packard for information, 303-279-3220.

Yarn Spinners -- This creative group of women enjoys getting together to work on our individual needlework and fiber arts projects as we catch up on what the Lord has been doing in each other's lives. Come to learn, come to share your expertise, come to 'brag' about your latest project, or come simply to sit and enjoy! The group meets once a month at the Maguire's home, from 6-8pm. Annual Report of Activities

Calvary's Men's Prayer Group meets every Thursday morning in the Historic Church parish hall at 6:30 am. New pray-ers are always welcome. Contact Vern Arnold, 303-278-2007.

OPUS: This active group of nifty over-50 parishioners meets regularly for food, fellowship and special events, such as hiking, theater and potluck dinners. Contact Rod or Pat Killian for more information, 303-526-4888.

Family Fellowship is designed for families with children of all ages to gather together in fellowship and fun. Many events are planned each year, such as camping trips, hiking, pumpkin picking, Advent night, movie nights, bowling and Easter egg hunts, as well as outreach projects.
